2023 Summer News Intern

The AKPM Summer News Intern works within the Alaska Public Media Newsroom and will work on a wide range of general assignment stories on Southcentral Alaska. This work includes researching, writing, and producing content for daily, statewide newscasts, the AKPM website, and social media. Throughout the summer, the intern will create audio and web stories, shoot photographs and assist in live program production. The AKPM intern will begin initially as a trainee learning our methods (equipment, production, website, etc.), but concluding as our colleague — reporting, producing and posting content on a daily basis.

Senior Director of Finance 

The Senior Director of Finance (SDF) serves as principal finance and administration leader of a broad-based media organization that delivers television, radio, news, and web content. The SDF supervises the finance unit (Administrative Business Manager & the NETA Business Center finance staff) and is the chief financial liaison with the board of directors. The SDF reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer & Vice President of Administration, assists on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and the securing of new funding for Alaska Public Media.

State Government Reporter 

Alaska Public Media is looking for a State Government Reporter to cover politics in Juneau and statewide issues. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, multi-platform journalist who will thrive in a fast-paced reporting environment during a pivotal moment for Alaska.
Our ideal candidate has a strong record of writing with accuracy on tight deadlines and has the ability to move quickly between topics. You’ll cover legislative meetings and budgets, but also dive beyond the agendas to help our readers and listeners better understand their state government and how lawmakers’ decisions are impacting Alaskans.
This position will be based at least part time in Juneau, during the legislative session.
The State Government Reporter will join the collaborative and award-winning news team at Alaska Public Media, Anchorage’s NPR and PBS station. We provide daily, statewide news programming to 26 partner stations across Alaska and oversee the collaborative statewide news network. The position will work closely with our partner stations to decide which stories to prioritize. Engagement work will also be an important element of this job.
