I will move out of anchorage if a sales tax is levied. It is also rediculous that you can not serve or buy alcohol from 2am to 10am in anchorage!
Its more ridiculous that you can’t spell.
Even if I ended up paying more with a sales tax, I would find it much preferable in that I can control how much I spend when things get tight. But with a property tax, the government wants money whether you have it or not. WE end up merely renting our property rather than owning it.
Really if you think about it we had a better deal when we were pheasants in medieval England. The pheasants paid 25% of the produce of their lords land. The Municipality of Anchorage demands that much or more whether the property can produce anything or not.
With a sales tax, I can go on vacation from time to time and have some hope that the government hasn’t confiscated my property while I was gone.
