Boards of 5 items will be described and featured for bidding. Listen, and when you hear an item you are interested in, stop and pick up the phone and call in your bid. Each board will be presented for only 6 minutes. So, be ready to act fast!
Each day of the KSKA Great Certificate Auction we will feature 22 boards each having 5 items.

Bidding by Phone
When you hear an item announced on air that you would like to bid on, call us immediately:
- 550-8484 in Anchorage
- 1-800-478-5256 outside Anchorage, toll-free
We have a total of 10 phone bidders to take your call and bid with you. If you don’t get through, hang up and keep trying – many times bidders on the phone will drop out as prices rise, thus freeing a phone line for a new bidder.
NOTE: Your signal is slightly delayed from actual events in the studio – up to several seconds. Therefore, turn down your radio volume while on the phone and simply listen to and talk with your bidding operator. They will keep you informed of current bids.
Official Bidding Rules & Procedures
- Live bidding is done by phone.
- Five items will be presented on a board at one time.
- Each board will be up for bidding for 6 minutes. Any and all of the items on a given board can be bid upon by a single or multiple bidders.
- After 6 minutes the board will be closed
- The highest bidder on each item will be contacted as the successful bidder.
- Each item being offered will be described and the donor and value given.
- Listen to the announcers as they will continue to update the bidding information
- If you hear of an item on which you wish to bid, immediately dial 550-8484 (in Anchorage) or 1-800-478-5256 (outside Anchorage) to initiate bidding.
- The operator must take your name and phone number before you are allowed to bid.
- The operator will tell you the highest current bid. Stay on the phone with the operator until you reach the highest bid you want to make.
- There are up to 9 other simultaneous phone bidders
- In the event of two identical bids, the Auctioneer reserves the right to determine which bid he or she considers first.
- If you are the highest bidder, a confirmation operator will call you within one hour of the item’s sale to give you instructions for picking up and paying for your item(s).
- The “Value” represents the donor’s estimated value of the item or the value recommended by the judges or research. This is not a “minimum” or “price” and is furnished only as a guide to prospective bidders.
- We recommend bidders listen for restrictions such as expiration dates or call the station with questions between 8:30am and 5pm the week the auction is scheduled.
Condition of Sale
- Proceeds from the KSKA Great Certificate Auction will benefit Alaska Public Telecommunications, Inc. (APTI), 3877 University Drive, Anchorage, AK 99508. APTI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit / charitable corporation and operates KAKM Public Television (Channel 7), KSKA Public Radio (FM 91.1) and the Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN).
- APTI assumes no risk, liability, or responsibility for the authenticity of the authorship of any property identified in the auction lists, website, or live radio presentation, (that is, the identity of the creator or the period , culture, source, or origin, as the case may be, with which the creation of any property is identified herein).
- All property is sold “as is” and APTI does not make any warranties or representations of any kind or nature with respect to the property, and in no event will be responsible for the correctness, nor deemed to have made any representation or warranty of description, genuineness, attribution, provenance, historical period, or condition of the property, and no statement in the catalog or made at the sale of in the bill of sale or invoice or in the script of elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or representation or an assumption of liability.
- APTI makes no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, as to whether the purchaser acquires any reproduction rights in the property.
- APTI reserves the right to withdraw any property at any time before actual sale.
- APTI reserves the right to rearrange the item presentation schedule at any time before or during the live auction.
Removal of Property (Item Pickup)
- Successful bidders must arrange for payment and removal of purchases with 48 hours of their confirmed high bid unless other arrangements are made. APTI reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner it deems appropriate if the successful bidder does not remove the property within the agreed upon period of time.
- Payments may be made by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover.
- Gift Certificates may be mailed at an additional fee & may be sent certified
- The purchaser shall be responsible for transporting his/her purchase unless mailing arrangements for Gift certificates are made.
- Items may be paid for and picked up at 3877 University Drive, Anchorage, during regular business hours between 9am and 5:30pm.
