Listen Now
KSKA Public Radio is available 24×365 via FM radio in several parts of Alaska, plus we have a live Internet stream for listeners worldwide. Here’s how and where to find KSKA:
FM Radio Broadcast
KSKA is primarily available in the Anchorage area, but we also have translators broadcasting our signal in other parts of the state.
| Geographic Area | Frequency |
| Anchorage, Eagle River, Mat-Su Valley | FM 91.1 |
| Unalaska / Dutch Harbor (translator) | FM 91.1 |
| Prudhoe Bay (translator) | FM 91.1 |
| Girdwood (translator) | FM 91.9 |
| Seward (translator) | FM 88.1 |
KSKA’s broadcast studios (at the “Elmo Sackett Broadcast Center”) are in Anchorage, on land leased from Alaska Pacific University. KSKA’s primary transmitter is about 14 miles north of downtown Anchorage, across the Knik Arm. Our 100,000-watt transmitter covers Anchorage and the Mat-Su valley quite well, though some poor indoor coverage can be expected in areas shielded by thick walls or obstructing hills.
All other sites are covered by translators, some operated by KSKA, others operated by local groups that simply use KSKA’s signal to feed the translator.
On Your iPhone or iPod Touch
There are already a few iPhone apps that will tune in Internet radio stations, but the easiest one that will keep you in touch with public radio stations nationwide — including KSKA — is the Public Radio Tuner.
KSKA and many other public radio stations nationwide are available to stream on your iPhone or iPod Touch when you install the free Public Radio Tuner application from the iTunes App Store.
The Public Radio Tuner works on all iPhones and iPod Touches. However, some station streams with a high bitrate (128k or higher) will perform best when using a WiFi or 3G connection. Streams that are 64k or lower will play with a wifi, 3G, or EDGE network connection. KSKA’s stream is only 24k at this time — so you can listen to KSKA literally anywhere you have a good cell phone signal.
Click here to go to the iTunes Store and download the Public Radio Tuner today.
Once you’ve loaded the app, just look for “KSKA FM 91.1 – Anchorage, Alaska” in the station list to get started.
