Legion post offers unique view of Anchorage history

This month Anchorage’s American Legion Post One will celebrate its 90th anniversary. As KSKA’s Len Anderson discovered, the post’s long history is recorded by some fascinating memorabilia, some of which appears in an exhibit at the Loussac Library.

Anchorage’s oldest American Legion post celebrates 90 years

Like communities across the nation, Anchorage embraces the Fourth of July with a bevy of traditions. One of the oldest for the city is the parade, which again this year will feature Anchorage’s American Legion Post Number One. Post One has not only participated in every single parade, it started the hallmark event.
