KSKA streaming maintenance
Wed, Jan 30, 2008
Our streaming service is undergoing some routine maintenance this evening (Wed, 1/30) starting around 8:00 p.m. local time. We expect the streams to be back online before 8:30 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you’ll “tune” back in after the maintenance window.
UPDATE: As of 12:45 a.m. on Thu, 1/31 the streaming service is not yet back up. Our streaming vendor is working on the service at this time. We’re hoping service resumes by the start of the regular business day (1/31).
UPDATE 2: As of 2:00 a.m. on Thu, 1/31 the streaming service has been restored.
KSKA’s streaming service doubled
Thu, Sep 20, 2007
KSKA’s low power signal is still in effect as our HD Radio upgrades continue. So if your radio gets marginal reception when we’re at full power, you’re probably out of luck right now. We expect power to go back up to 100,000 watts by the end of the month.
An alternative? You can listen to KSKA’s signal via the Internet.
Historically, this has been a pretty constrained service that frustrated lots of listeners. A year ago we had only 25 streams available and were almost always busy. Until today, we had just 50 streams, and again we were fully subscribed during the day. As of this afternoon we’ve boosted our streaming service to 100 streams.
So if you’ve given up trying to use our streaming service in the past, we encourage you — especially if you’re having trouble listening to KSKA over the air — to try it again. You can learn more on our Listen Now page.
And let us know your thoughts about our KSKA stream by commenting below. Or feel free to contact us.
Site comments opened up
Thu, Sep 6, 2007
Since the relaunch of KSKA.org (yes, it’s still a work in progress) we’ve had only a few comments appear from our website visitors. We have a guess as to why.
Up to now, commenting required you to register with the site, and some folks consider that a bit of a hassle. So we’re going to try something out: we’re taking down that barrier to participation — as an experiment.
We’ve just opened up the commenting system one more notch. Site visitors may now submit a comment on any of our posts simply by including their name and e-mail address (e-mail addresses are not published). Submitted comments will still be moderated before appearing publicly, but we’re hoping this more open approach will allow folks to feel freer to participate.
What do you think? Well… try commenting directly on this article and tell us!
Of course, if you’d prefer to send a more private message, you can always use the form on the Contact Us page.
