Former Anchorage Borough Mayor, Jack Roderick who plays “Grandpa” in the upcoming production of You Can’t Take it With You joins Dick Reichman on this week’s Stage Talk. Reichman directs this 1930’s American classic poking fun at the tax system, welfare, market capitalism and materialism. You Can’t Take it With You opens at Cyrano’s on March 12.

Based on the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” Trial, Inherit in the Wind tells the story of John T. Scopes, a Tennessee teacher who was convicted for teaching his high school science class about Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Opening tonight at the Machetanz theater in Wasilla, Elizebeth Hanson and Larry Burton from Valley Performing Arts join Stage Talk hosts Mark and Jean to talk about how the themes of the play remain relevant today.

Tuesdays with Morrie opens tonight at Cyrano’s and run through February 28th.

Stage Talk hosts Jean and Mark visit with guests were Peter Porco (playwright) and Dick Reichman (director) of the play ”Wind Blown and Dripping” now playing at Cyrano’s through January 24th.

Porco, a former staffer at the Anchorage Daily News, talks about his play featuring Dasheil Hammet’s tour of duty in Adak during World War II.

Stage Talk hosts Mark and Jean and director Kevin Bennett discovered Heart at the Last Frontier Theater Conference in Valdez this past summer and now the Alaska Community Theater is putting on the play this weekend at Wild Berry Theater. The playwright Judd Silverman joins the director, Kevin Bennett on Stage Talk this week to discuss the all-star Alaskan cast and the world premiere of Heart in Anchorage this weekend.
