Community Advisory Council (CAC)
Under Article VII of APTI’s Articles of Incorporation, the Community Advisory Council (CAC) consists of current KSKA members established to “broadly represent the communities served by KSKA.”
What do they do?
The CAC’s purpose is to review KSKA’s programming goals, service and the policy decisions of the Corporation and its Board of Directors in order to advise the Corporation and the Board of its effectiveness in meeting the needs of the communities each has been licensed to serve.
Some topics addressed in past CAC meetings include:
- accuracy in the news
- the growth of “entertainment” in NPR news magazines
- the sound quality of KSKA
- effective on-air fundraising during KSKA membership drives
- how KSKA’s programming schedule compares to other public radio stations in other markets.
The role of the CAC is solely advisory in nature.
How are members selected?
Members of the public wishing to be considered for the CAC can submit a resume to the Board of Directors and must be current members of KSKA. CAC members are appointed by the Board of Directors for renewable two (2) year terms upon recommendations by individual board members, staff or other interested parties.
When does the Council meet?
KSKA’s CAC meets September through May on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM. Meetings are held at KSKA (3877 University Dr, Anchorage AK 99508). CAC meetings are open to the public. In addition to the published schedule here, announcements of the meetings are made on air prior to the meeting.
