Anchorage woman fears new mammogram recommendation

The U.S. Senate has voted to require health insurance companies to provide free mammograms and other preventative services to women with a 61 – 39 vote during health care reform discussions. This on the heels of new information released by a federal advisory panel last month indicating that women don’t need mammograms before age 50. The vote may override the panel’s recommendations. Meanwhile, women are questioning the new guidelines, and want more information.
