Women veterans honored in special ceremony

Alaska is the only state in the nation to have an official day honoring women veterans of the military services. In 2000, the state legislature approved November 9th as Women Veterans Day and Monday evening in Anchorage local women who have served in the military were recognized in an annual ceremony that began in 1992 .
