Sweet clover proving dangerous to Alaska’s natural habitat

Thu, Jul 31, 2008

A seemingly innocent plant bearing delicate white flowers is posing a threat to native plants, fish and wildlife. And it’s likely blooming on a roadside near you.

Going Green: Business Opportunities and Challenges

Thu, Jul 31, 2008

KSKA Public Radio is proud to present Joel Makower’s recent Anchorage speech on the business rewards and challenges of “going green.”

Len Anderson originally filed a news story based Makower’s talk on July 25, but we thought listeners might enjoy hearing the entire presentation. KSKA is airing the full speech Thursday evening, July 31, plus we’re posting it here.

Makower speaks and consults nationally on matters of “green” business practices, and he operates several web sites with related information and news, including:

Special thanks to the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), who sponsored Makower’s appearance last month.

Happy Birthday KSKA!

Wed, Jul 30, 2008

KSKA Public Radio first went on the air 30 years ago next month — on August 15, 1978. To celebrate the event — and APRN’s 30th anniversary — we had a bit of a picnic at KSKA headquarters in Anchorage on Wednesday evening.

Click the image above to visit our growing photo gallery from the event.

No need to send gifts! ;-) But we sure would like to have you as one of our community philanthropists. You can even give online right now.

Thanks Anchorage (and beyond!) for 30 years of support.

Community Forum: Blogs

Wed, Jul 30, 2008

Nellie Moore talks with progressive blogger, Philip Munger and KSKA’s own John Proffitt as they talk about blogs, how they’re affecting politics and society and how you can get started blogging, too.
