HD radio signal shut off

Posted in Engineering Updates
Due to frequent drop outs in KSKA’s HD radio signal, our HD service has been discontinued until the problem can be resolved. Please make sure your radio is set to receive KSKA’s analog signal, as the HD signal is not available. We will continue to post engineering updates regarding HD signal online until the problem has been repaired. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Re: HD transmitions
Is the problem with your transmition resolved? Are you back on w/ HD?
Will radio stations eventually be required to do this as TV stations are?
I am thinking about getting a HD radio in my car and @ home. I would like clear reception out in the boonies.
Thanks
Craig Stewart (Wasilla)
Craig — Yes, we’re on the air with HD Radio on 91.1 FM.
At this time, there’s no active movement within regulatory circles to shutdown traditional FM transmission. So HD Radio — the digital form of radio — is a new, add-on service, not a replacementment service like Digital TV.
If you’re in the Wasilla area, you should be able to receive our HD Radio broadcasts in general. Of course, local interference or other issues might block your reception. But if you have a strong 91.1 FM (analog) signal already, you’ll likely get a strong HD Radio signal, too.
If you do get an HD Radio, be sure to let us know how it’s working out for you!
I am thinking of getting an HD radio. Are you currently broadcasting in HD?
Ed Miner
Ed — YES we are broadcasting in HD Radio from our primary transmitter site, about 11 miles north of downtown Anchorage, across Knik Arm.
