Bond Propositions 1 and 4 feature big ticket repair projects

Our series on the city-wide bond propositions in the April 1st Anchorage Municipal Election now turns to Propositions 1 and 4.

In the original version of this story, we erroneously said the city would not issue the bonds of Proposition Four unless the state issued a matching grant of $2,000,000 toward Anchorage pool repair. That is not correct. The state could give a grant for the repairs of less than $2,000,000, in which case the city would issue bonds matching the lesser amount of the state grant. The story has since been corrected. (Tues, March 25, 2008)

When I appeared with Nellie Moore I gave the best information that I had. Unfortunately, a few days later I discovered that Prop 4 does not depend on a 1:1 match with State funds to be issued. It only requires that the State appropriate some money. Corrections were made everywhere, except with Mellie, and we are seeking a full, 1:1 match from the State.
I was chagrined to hear Len repeat my error last night when he provided information on Prop 4 and wanted to provide this since more people will have heard him and the election is so close.
