Ceremony marks a quarter century of sheltering the homeless

Last week Anchorage’s Clare House celebrated 25 years of offering shelter to homeless women with children. The observance honored those who have contributed over the years to Clare House’s operations as well as those who have sought its service.

To learn more about the Clare House shelter for homeless women and women with children, we’ve included additional interview audio from our conversation with Susan Bomalaski, the Executive Director of Catholic Social Services. Len Anderson spoke to her on February 21, 2008 outside the Clare House located in Anchorage, Alaska.

Just before the 25th Anniversary Commemoration began, KSKA’s Len Anderson talked to Susan Bomalaski, the Executive Director of Catholic Social Services. CSS oversees Clare House operations.

Clare House is one of a group of Anchorage Shelters, each one with a specific purpose. Clare House mission seeks to help homeless women and women with children who are not in threatening domestic violence situations.

Len Anderson began by asking Director Bomalaski how Clare House began.
