Anchorage’s library renovation and expansion campaign received a big boost when BP-Alaska announced today the company is giving 840-thousand dollars toward the city’s libraries.

Chester Valley Elementary School: Structural crack in roof above gym/cafeteria
Last night the Anchorage School District Board unanimously approved two bond propositions totaling a little more than $43.5 million. If the Assembly agrees, the request for capital bonds will go before the voters in April’s municipal election.

Today statues stand tall in New York City’s Central Park and Nome, Alaska commemorating the 1925 Serum Run to Nome in which Balto the sled dog led his team and relayed diphtheria antitoxin over 600 miles across Alaska, saving the small city of Nome from an incipient epidemic. This week on Line One, revisit health issues in Nome with Dr. Bob Lawrence of the Norton Sound Regional Health Center and host, Dr. Thad Woodard.

City’s Hillside commuters have new route north
