In 2004, on vacation, I was hospitalized in Germany for 5 nights/6 days (pre-term labor). Upon my return, I stayed one night at Providence. The German hospital stay cost less than the US stay. This was after German hospitals had switched from the subsidized to ‘cover your costs’ status. Care/room? Identical except that I provided my pjs and personal care items in Germany.

I use this as an example of how our costs our out of wack.
    a) Am I incorrect here?
    b) What are the big drivers between the cost differences?

    Thanks.
