City drops I/M test

Come January 1st, 2010, Anchorage drivers will no longer be paying about 60 dollars for an vehicle Inspection/Maintenance test. Last night the Anchorage Assembly overwhelmingly backed dropping the requirement that every two years city residents have their vehicles checked for carbon monoxide emissions.

Building goes down as Government Hill’s hopes rise…

The redevelopment of Anchorage’s oldest neighborhood took a step forward yesterday with the demolition of a former auto body shop and gas station. The razing was one of two Government Hill redevelopment projects recognized at the pre-demolition ceremony.

Transportation Department gives Knik bridge builders a “conditional” boost

The proposed Knik Arm Bridge received a financial boost this week from the U-S Department of Transportation. On Monday the DOT granted “conditional approval” for a 600 million dollar allocation of Private Activity Bonds. That doesn’t mean the group overseeing the bridge’s construction has the 600 million, but it could make getting that money easier.
