Anchorage’s city-owned Municipal Light & Power Company’s service area is compact — only 20 square miles, lying mostly in the city’s core area. But a new report says what ML&P lacks in size, it makes up for with a strong financial plan and lower customer rates.

Brown bear shot in Mountain View neighborhood

Anchorage police had to shoot a young brown bear Wednesday night in the Mountain View section of town. The 3-year-old male had been spotted throughout the area for days, ranging from neighborhoods in Spenard up to Government Hill.
