Assembly approves free WiFi for downtown Anchorage

Most of us know the warning, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” The Anchorage Assembly has. Before unanimously approving a leasing agreement offering free wireless service for downtown, members spent more than a half hour questioning municipal staff and a company (MetroFi) representative.

UPDATE — JULY 14, 2007: The Anchorage Daily News reported today the WiFi deal with MetroFi has fallen through, at least for the time being.
